The Mask She Wears

Does anyone ever look behind the mask she wears

And notice the turmoil and despair?

You see she’s fighting an invisible war

And her demons do nothing but roar

There’s one in particular that hangs around

He’s responsible for a lot of the sound

The evil that he talks of seems so real

That she believes it’s the real deal

That this blackness within can infect those close by

It’s enough to want her to give up and die

She’s tried looking for hope as best she can

But she’s already started to make a plan

If only he would leave her alone and in peace

Then maybe the gut wrenching pain inside will cease.
